Попадающие к нам впервые нередко спрашивают, что это: Музей, Дом искусств, учебный или продюсерский центр? И я, как правило, отвечаю: это и то, и другое, и третье. Государственный Российский Дом народного творчества вот уже 95 лет продолжает и развивает благородное дело своих предшественников - московских актеров, художников, меценатов, которые в начале XX века во главе с живописцем В.Д. Поленовым развернули активную работу по оказанию всесторонней помощи рабочим и крестьянским театрам, всем, кто занимался любительским искусством. Со времен Поленовского Дома и до наших дней эта деятельность не прерывалась, привлекая все новых и новых сподвижников из числа выдающмхся представителей творческой интеллигенции.

Сегодня коллектив ГРДНТ - это содружество уникальных специалистов по всем основным жанрам. В своей работе они опираются на замечательный актив Дома - мастеров искусств, видных ученых, преподавателей творческих вузов, И конечно, главная опора - это система региональных домов народного творчества. Ежегодно во всех регионах России мы проводим совместно с ними десятки фестивалей, конкурсов, выставок. В это непростое время мы не выживаем, а живем полноценной жизнью, занятые любимым делом. Самобытные талантливые люди, съезжающиеся к нам со всех уголков России, оставляют здесь особый след, и потому Государственный Российский Дом народного творчества славен своей теплой атмосферой, духом, имя которому - народное искусство.

The festivals of folk arts in Russia have a long history. These art holidays have become the integral part of culture life, vividly and earnestly demonstrating the inexhaustible treasures - the national talents of our country.
The system of traditional creative actions according to the genres of amateur art had developed under the patronage of Ministry and State Russian House of folk art for many years. As a rule, they gather hundreds and thousands of participants from all regions of our country, turning into the unforgettable holidays, where the spirit of our nation and creative workers, keeping the imperishable cultural wealth of our nation, opens with extraordinary spontaneity and genuine sincerity.
In spite of the difference in genres, structure and performance, the main purpose of the festivals is to stimulate the development of folk art and to retain the national traditional cultures. Therefore, every event is not an ordinary holiday, but a whole cycle, including the training work: the preparatory seminars, the master-classes by the members of the jury, the art laboratories and different conferences during the preparation for the festival, the publishing of repertoire, the creation of training films and so on.
Festivals, competitions and exhibitions give the opportunity to discover the typical features and problems of one or another stage of genre’s development, to follow the changes in value orientation of collectives’ participants, performers and authors. No doubt, such holiday always discover the new names of talented artists and collectives’ leader, masters and artists.
Another important part of the festival’s practice is connected with the popularity of the folk art and with attracting the audience attention to the most outstanding events of the modern amateur art. That is why the professional level of organization and producing of the mass events are so important to us.
Only the leading professional cultural workers take part in the working process of jury and exhibitional committees of all-Russian, interregional and international art forums. The final gala-concerts and theatrical performances are held by the famous producers.
